for Smallholder Farmers and Pastoralists, through training, infrastructure support, Puntland
Sustainable Agrilivestock Network (PUSAN) &Tayo Resilience Foundation is helping Capacity
Building communities increase their a capacity-building initiative aimed at equipping smallholder
farmers and pastoralists with climate-smart agricultural practices, improve Climate-smart, and
develop Farmers and productivity, promoting sustainable land management practices, improving
climate resilience, and strengthening livelihoods among vulnerable communities.

Project Objectives

  • Improve sustainable Climate-smart Agriculture.
  • Strengthen Agriculture value chains.
  • Increase income for coastal households.
  • Enhance food security and nutrition.
  • Build climate resilience.

Key Activities

1. Training and Skills Development

 Conduct training sessions on Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices.
Build capacity on modern crop and livestock production techniques.
Establish Farmer Field Schools (FFS) for practical learning.
Provide training on water conservation and soil management.

2. Awareness Raising and Community Mobilization

Raise awareness on climate change and its impacts on agriculture and livelihoods.
Organize community meetings with farmers and pastoralists.
Facilitate the formation of farmer and pastoralist groups.

3. Demonstration Farms and Pilot Projects

Establish demonstration farms to showcase CSA practices.
Pilot drought-resistant and climate-resilient crop varieties.
Promote agroforestry systems to improve sustainability.

4. Gender Equality and Social Inclusion

Promote active participation of women and youth.
Provide targeted support to women-led groups.
Ensure equitable access to project resources and opportunities.

Summary

The project will strengthen the resilience and productivity of smallholder farmers and pastoralists
by delivering training, demonstration activities, and access to inputs, water management solutions,
extension services, and market linkages through climate-smart agriculture approaches.
